"It Did Not Come"

I hurried to the sun to come,
It didn’t come.
I ran after a frenzied entity,
Who disheveled auburn-colored hair to the warm magic of her marble hip,
For the sun to come.
It didn’t come.
I wrote on paper, on the wall, on stone and soil,
For people to read,
Then come the sun.
It didn’t come...

The performance, a living echo of Reza Barahani’s "It Did Not Come," unfolded across diverse spaces, each time intertwining with its surroundings like the breath of a restless spirit. At Wimar Atelier in Poznań, December 2023, the intimate walls absorbed the quiet longing of the body and voice, as if the very air held the weight of unspoken desires. The movements, tender yet relentless, danced with the cold, the silence, and the shadowed corners of the room, while the voice quivered, filled with both yearning and surrender.

In July 2024, during the Wegajty Theatre Wioska Festival, the performance blossomed anew, awakening in the embrace of nature. The open sky and the rustling trees became part of the dialogue, as the body reached for the unreachable sun, mirroring the ebb and flow of the earth’s own rhythms. The voice, carried by the wind, sought connection beyond the confines of words, amplifying the poem's longing to be heard, to be seen.

By August 2024, at the Brramat Theatre Festival in Goleniów, the performance adapted once again, finding its pulse amidst a new environment, an intersection of concrete and dreams. Here, the tension between movement and stillness heightened, as the body pressed against the boundaries of space, only to dissolve into the sound of silence—the same silence that held the poem’s refrain: "It didn’t come."

Each iteration of the performance was not just a retelling, but an intimate conversation with its surroundings—its ambient whispers transforming the act itself into a reflection of place and moment, a continuous search for the elusive, the unknown, and the unattainable.
